Seriously, if you travel to any place within the U.S. St. Augustine should be one of your premiere destinations.
Ponce de Leon went in search of the fountain of youth.
The Fountain of Youth costs $7. I suggest taking the first part of the tour where visitors are actually allowed to drink from the Fountain of Youth (Ponce de Leon was quoted as saying it was the sweetest water he’s ever drank. Actually, the water is not sweet and tastes like bad well water with Sulfa as the main ingredient)

Sergei Zackovich and Ponce de Leon

Where Ponce de Leon first landed in Florida

Be sure to check out the Fudge Shop, Kilwin’s. Be patient, the line is always out the door but well worth the wait.

There are at least three hat shops in the Old City. This one has a cool red door.

Another back street in the Old City.

Fun with statues at the St. Augustine Public Library

Stop in at the A1A Ale House for a micro-brew. I had the Bridge of Lions Brown Ale. Yummy!
I have two more installments left to do. One will cover Anastasia State Park and the other installment will be about the San Marcos Fort. So stay tuned and y’all come back now, ya hear.

Oh, very, very nice! I love the red door. Did you get a new hat?
Happy to see puppydog with you, too.

Yeah, the Sergei pic was taken when he helped me move down here.
No, no new hat in St. Augustine (although I did have my eye on one)

I love St Augustine. We visited a few years ago and it was a delightful trip. The town is small enough that we spent most of the time walking from place to place enjoying the history and the scenery. We bought a bottle of the “magic” water and for a few years the wrinkles stayed away, but the affects are wearing off. We will need to make another journey and buy another bottle or maybe two this times.
Although I was not too happy with the food, I did enjoy shopping, great shops and unique items. I did not check out the hats, but I had a glorious day in one of the handbag shops. Great pictures in your
St. Augustine series.

Thanks, Fearless! It is one of my favorite places to visit. We’re thinking of taking another trip there soon.
Since we camped, we didn’t really try much of the food although we did find a great pizza place. On St. George street it was a “by the slice” sort of place and then on the backside of the block it was a nice sit down pasta/pizza restaurant. We got one of their white pizzas and it was soooo yummy. Some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. The only reason I didn’t cover it is because for the life of me, I can’t remember the name of it. But it was great.
LOL on the purses. My friend’s daughter managed to find (and buy) a purse in one of those shops in a little “mall.”

I love St. Augustine. My folks live down the coast in New Smyrna Beach and I’ve tacked on a few days in St. Augustine during several of my Florida visits. Lovely little town!
